Thank you for your interest in the Natural Medicine approach to treating disease and healthy living! Caring Medical is currently a full time Prolotherapy doctor's office, headed by Ross Hauser, MD and we are blessed to fill the needs of patients seeking an alternative to surgery. We are accepting new patients and athletes suffering from chronic pain, sports injuries, and arthritis for treatment with Prolotherapy. Due to this large demand in Prolotherapy, we are not currently accepting new patients for natural medicine conditions, this includes autoimmune conditions, weight loss, menopause, hormones, or cancer. Through the years, we have seen so many lives turn around for the better with some of the methods discussed on this page, and encourage you to seek a Natural Medicine practitioner at www.acam.org.
The Response of Modern Medicine
When a patient show symptoms of hyperinsulinemia, doctors typically respond by administering drugs to lower the blood sugar, or they give the patient insulin. The problem with this approach is that although the blood sugar may return to normal levels, the hyperinsulinemia has not been addressed.
The Natural Medicine Approach to Hyperinsulinemia
A better approach is to try to get at the root cause of the hyperinsulinemia, which almost always involves diet. Treatment is preceded by laboratory tests in order to determine a course of treatment geared specifically for each individual. These tests would include
- a metabolic profile, which tests kidney, liver and thyroid functions
- a glucose insulin tolerance test, which tests the body’s response to sugar
- hormone testing, which is used to determine proper hormone levels
- Nova 8, which determines vitamin and mineral levels
- bleeding time, which tests blood thickness, a factor involved in heart disease
- food allergies, which tests for allergens in the diet
One of the recommendations would be to alter the diet to include more protein and fewer carbohydrates, as the Hauser diet does. This would allow the pancreas to start repairing itself and restore healthy insulin levels. Weight loss is another treatment. Excessive insulin causes the body to store fat, causing weight gain and increasing the risks of heart disease and stroke. Natural supplements would also be recommended to strengthen the endocrine system and help the afflicted individual lose weight safely, including GTF, lipoic acid and Weight Less.
