DESCRIPTION:

Thank you for your interest in the Natural Medicine approach to treating disease and healthy living! Caring Medical is currently a full time Prolotherapy doctor's office, headed by Ross Hauser, MD and we are blessed to fill the needs of patients seeking an alternative to surgery. We are accepting new patients and athletes suffering from chronic pain, sports injuries, and arthritis for treatment with Prolotherapy. Due to this large demand in Prolotherapy, we are not currently accepting new patients for natural medicine conditions, this includes autoimmune conditions, weight loss, menopause, hormones, or cancer. Through the years, we have seen so many lives turn around for the better with some of the methods discussed on this page, and encourage you to seek a Natural Medicine practitioner at www.acam.org.

Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) is a rare and potentially life-threatening autoimmune disorder. It is characterized by a progressive loss of feeling and weakness that can rapidly lead to paralysis. In the United States, about 1 in 100,000 people are affected with Guillain-Barre syndrome each year. The fatality rate of GBS is five to ten percent. GBS can strike at any age, although it is most commonly afflicts those from ages 15-35 and 50-75. GBS is more likely to strike men.

How does Guillain-Barre syndrome develop?
The condition is caused by an abnormal immune response in which antibodies that are produced in response to an infection, surgery or vaccine attack the myelin sheath around the nerves or the nerves themselves, causing inflammation. The resulting nerve damage leaves the muscles unable to respond properly to brain signals, causing weakness and paralysis. In about 80 percent of people, symptoms begin from five days to three weeks after a mild infection, surgery or immunization.

What are the symptoms of Guillain-Barre Syndrome?
The symptoms include weakness in the legs, which may spread up the trunk and lead to numbness and tingling of the arms. Usually, no further symptoms develop, but, in severe cases, symptoms become progressively worse and include paralysis of the limbs and difficulty speaking and swallowing. If the muscles of the rib cage and diaphragm are affected, serious breathing difficulties may develop.

Conventional medical treatments may help relieve the symptoms of Guillain-Barre syndrome but they do not address the root of the problem. Generally, by undergoing comprehensive natural medicine testing, the reasons the body is producing antibodies against itself can be found. Some of these reasons include sensitivities or allergies to foods, inhalants and chemicals and various infections.
