DESCRIPTION:
Thank you for your interest in the Natural Medicine approach to treating disease and healthy living! Caring Medical is currently a full time Prolotherapy doctor's office, headed by Ross Hauser, MD and we are blessed to fill the needs of patients seeking an alternative to surgery. We are accepting new patients and athletes suffering from chronic pain, sports injuries, and arthritis for treatment with Prolotherapy. Due to this large demand in Prolotherapy, we are not currently accepting new patients for natural medicine conditions, this includes autoimmune conditions, weight loss, menopause, hormones, or cancer. Through the years, we have seen so many lives turn around for the better with some of the methods discussed on this page, and encourage you to seek a Natural Medicine practitioner at www.acam.org.
Heart disease, also known as coronary artery disease (CAD), is technically any disorder that affects the heart's ability to function normally. The coronary arteries, which branch from the main artery in the body, or the aorta, supply the heart muscle with blood. In heart disease, one or more of the coronary arteries is usually narrowed or blocked. This restricted blood flow eventually damages the heart muscle. Coronary artery disease develops slowly and silently over the course of decades. It affects all ages and races.
Each year, more than 500,000 Americans die of complications of coronary artery disease. According to the American Heart Association, about every 29 seconds someone in the United States suffers from a CAD-related event, and about every minute someone dies from such an event. The lifetime risk of having coronary heart disease after age 40 is 49 percent for men and 32 percent for women. As women get older, the risk increases to close to that of men. Heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women in the United States.
How does heart disease develop?
Heart disease, or CAD, is usually due to atherosclerosis, which is the slow, progressive build-up of deposits called plaques on the inner walls of the arteries. These plaques are composed of deposits of fat, cholesterol, calcium and other cellular material from the blood that narrow the arteries and restrict blood flow. Several risk factors lead to this narrowing of the arteries, including high cholesterol, age, family history, high blood pressure, smoking, obesity, lack of exercise and diabetes. Research suggests that a bacterium such as Chlamydia pneumoniae or H Pylori may play a role in the narrowing of coronary arteries, as may food allergies or an imbalance of the Omega fatty acids in the body. In rare instances, the autoimmune disorder Kawasaki’s disease may be responsible for narrowing the coronary arteries. However, this inflammatory disease affects mostly children.
What are the symptoms of heart disease?
While symptoms of heart disease, or coronary artery disease, vary from individual to individual, they generally include "chest pain" or angina. Angina is a painful and uncomfortable feeling in the chest, neck, back, shoulders, arms and/or jaw. It has been described as a tightness, aching, burning and/or pain. Other symptoms of heart disease can include nausea, vomiting, weakness and/or shortness of breath.
Conventional medical treatments may help relieve the symptoms of heart disease, but they do not get to the root of the problem. By addressing the underlying cause of the disease, as natural medicine treatments do, heart disease may be stopped and even reversed.
