DESCRIPTION:
Thank you for your interest in the Natural Medicine approach to treating disease and healthy living! Caring Medical is currently a full time Prolotherapy doctor's office, headed by Ross Hauser, MD and we are blessed to fill the needs of patients seeking an alternative to surgery. We are accepting new patients and athletes suffering from chronic pain, sports injuries, and arthritis for treatment with Prolotherapy. Due to this large demand in Prolotherapy, we are not currently accepting new patients for natural medicine conditions, this includes autoimmune conditions, weight loss, menopause, hormones, or cancer. Through the years, we have seen so many lives turn around for the better with some of the methods discussed on this page, and encourage you to seek a Natural Medicine practitioner at www.acam.org.
The ovaries are the female reproductive organs that not only release ripe eggs about once a month in women of child-bearing age, but also produce the hormones estrogen, progesterone and androgens. Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that form in or on one or both of the ovaries. A woman can develop either one or many ovarian cysts. Cysts vary in size from as small as a pea to as large as a grapefruit.
How do ovarian cysts develop?
Ovarian cysts occur when the follicles or sacs on the ovary that contain the egg mature but do not release the egg into the fallopian tube. While most cysts are benign, a few may turn out to be malignant. There are several different types of ovarian cysts. Functional cysts are completely normal and form during ovulation. Endometriomas are cysts that develop in women who have endometriosis. Benign cystic tumors, also called cystadenomas, are non-cancerous tumors that develop from cells on the outer surface of the ovary and are often filled with a fatty liquid. Some of these tumors, called dermoid cysts, are lined with structures such as hair or pieces of bone. Although they are usually small and may not cause symptoms, they can become large and uncomfortable. Finally, multiple cysts are a type of ovarian cyst usually caused by a disorder called polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
What are the symptoms of ovarian cysts?
Many women may have functional cysts or benign cystic tumors without having any symptoms. However, a cyst may occasionally swell large enough to cause pressure or pain in the abdomen. Ovarian cysts have also been known to put pressure on the urinary tract and cause problems with urination. Some women may also experience pain during sexual intercourse. Although rare, a very large cyst can become twisted, stopping its own supply of blood. This can result in nausea, fever and severe abdominal pain. Endometriomas involve the commonly experienced symptoms of pelvic pain, painful menstrual periods, abnormal bleeding and painful sexual intercourse.
Conventional medical treatments may help relieve the symptoms of ovarian cysts, but they do not address the root of the problem. Discover why we believe that natural medicine treatments are the best way to treat - and prevent - ovarian cysts.
