DESCRIPTION:

Thank you for your interest in the Natural Medicine approach to treating disease and healthy living! Caring Medical is currently a full time Prolotherapy doctor's office, headed by Ross Hauser, MD and we are blessed to fill the needs of patients seeking an alternative to surgery. We are accepting new patients and athletes suffering from chronic pain, sports injuries, and arthritis for treatment with Prolotherapy. Due to this large demand in Prolotherapy, we are not currently accepting new patients for natural medicine conditions, this includes autoimmune conditions, weight loss, menopause, hormones, or cancer. Through the years, we have seen so many lives turn around for the better with some of the methods discussed on this page, and encourage you to seek a Natural Medicine practitioner at www.acam.org.

Poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis is an autoimmune disease characterized by kidney inflammation and dysfunction that develops following a streptococcal infection. Poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis mostly affects children from age 3 to early adulthood who are prone to streptococcus infections. These bacteria are a common cause of strep throat and skin infections known as impetigo.

How does poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis develop?
This chronic disorder develops when acute nephritic syndrome follows a streptococcal infection. Acute nephritic syndrome is the inflammation of the glomeruli, structures in the kidney that filter harmful or unnecessary substances out of the body. Each kidney has thousand of glomeruli.

The dead streptococci clump together in the kidney with the antibodies that neutralized them, creating an over accumulation of antibodies. As these clumps coat the membranes, the glomeruli filtering function becomes impaired. This abnormal reaction of the immune system can cause inflammation and even severe damage in the kidneys. It is not known why this occurs. Antibiotics tend to be ineffective because the nephritis begins 1 to 6 weeks after the infection and the streptococci are already dead.

Reactions to other infections can also cause inflammation of the glomeruli, such as artificial body part or prosthesis infection, bacterial endocarditis, pneumonia, abdominal organ abscesses, infectious hepatitis, chickenpox, syphilis and malaria. When poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis is the cause, urine production may stop completely. There also may be a sudden increase of blood volume and blood potassium level.

What are the symptoms of poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis?
Many people do not manifest any symptoms in the early stages of this disease. When symptoms do occur, they may include a low amount of urine or dark, bloody urine, fluid retention and tissue swelling (edema), such as a puffiness of the face and eyelids or swelling in the legs. Brain swelling and high blood pressure may produce headaches, visual disturbances and other serious brain disturbances.

Conventional medical treatments may help relieve the symptoms of poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis but they do not address the root of the problem. Generally, by undergoing comprehensive natural medicine testing, the reasons the body is producing antibodies against itself can be found. Some of these reasons include sensitivities or allergies to foods, inhalants and chemicals and various infections.

Discover why we believe that natural medicine treatments are the best way to treat poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis.
