DESCRIPTION:
Thank you for your interest in the Natural Medicine approach to treating disease and healthy living! Caring Medical is currently a full time Prolotherapy doctor's office, headed by Ross Hauser, MD and we are blessed to fill the needs of patients seeking an alternative to surgery. We are accepting new patients and athletes suffering from chronic pain, sports injuries, and arthritis for treatment with Prolotherapy. Due to this large demand in Prolotherapy, we are not currently accepting new patients for natural medicine conditions, this includes autoimmune conditions, weight loss, menopause, hormones, or cancer. Through the years, we have seen so many lives turn around for the better with some of the methods discussed on this page, and encourage you to seek a Natural Medicine practitioner at www.acam.org.
Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is an autoimmune disease that affects the bile ducts of the liver. The disease is most common in women between the ages of 35-60, although it can occur in men and women at any age.
How does primary biliary cirrhosis develop?
The condition is caused by an abnormal immune response in which antibodies are produced attacking the body's own liver. Bile, a liquid produced by the liver to aid digestion, normally leaves the liver through the bile ducts. In PBC, the bile ducts become inflamed, blocking the flow of bile from the liver. This causes the bile to build up, which damages the liver. As the inflammation spreads through out the liver, scar tissue develops causing more devastating problems. As the disease is in its final stage, cirrhosis is likely to develop, causing the liver to stop functioning.
What are the symptoms of primary biliary cirrhosis ?
Itching and fatigue are the first symptoms of primary biliary cirrhosis . These symptoms could precede other evidences of the disease by months or years. As the disease progresses, symptoms include small yellow deposits in the skin or eyelids, increased skin pigmentation and jaundice, fingertip enlargement, and abnormalities of the bones, nerves, and kidneys. Stools may be pale and greasy and have a strong odor. Osteoarthritis and thyroid problems may be present, and osteoporosis can develop in later stages.
Conventional medical treatments may help relieve the symptoms of primary biliary cirrhosis but they do not address the root of the problem. Generally, by undergoing comprehensive natural medicine testing, the reasons the body is producing antibodies against itself can be found. Some of these reasons include sensitivities or allergies to foods, inhalants and chemicals and various infections.
