DESCRIPTION:
Thank you for your interest in the Natural Medicine approach to treating disease and healthy living! Caring Medical is currently a full time Prolotherapy doctor's office, headed by Ross Hauser, MD and we are blessed to fill the needs of patients seeking an alternative to surgery. We are accepting new patients and athletes suffering from chronic pain, sports injuries, and arthritis for treatment with Prolotherapy. Due to this large demand in Prolotherapy, we are not currently accepting new patients for natural medicine conditions, this includes autoimmune conditions, weight loss, menopause, hormones, or cancer. Through the years, we have seen so many lives turn around for the better with some of the methods discussed on this page, and encourage you to seek a Natural Medicine practitioner at www.acam.org.
Vasculitis is a general term for a group of autoimmune diseases that involve inflammation in the blood vessels. Blood vessels of all sizes may be affected, from the largest vessel in the body (the aorta) to the smallest blood vessels in the skin (capillaries). The size of the blood vessel affected varies according to the specific type of vasculitis . (See Churg-Strauss syndrome, polyarteritis nodosa, polymyalgia rheumatica, temporal arteritis and Takayasu arteritis. )
How does vasculitis develop?
The causes of most vasculitides are unknown. It is clear, however, that the immune system plays a critical role in the tissue damage caused by vasculitis . The immune system produces antibodies that attack the body, causing inflammation to develop in the blood vessels. Inflammation in blood vessel walls leads to narrowing of the vessels, which can destroy these vessels and possibly damage the tissues they supply. Eventually, the blood vessels become leaky or clogged, disrupting blood flow to nerves, organs and other parts of the body. The result of inadequate blood supply to a particular tissue or organ can result in permanent damage such as loss of pulse points, blindness and pulmonary failure.
What are the symptoms of vasculitis?
Vasculitis is a systemic illness, meaning patients with vasculitis feel a general sense of malaise. They may experience fever, weight loss, fatigue, a rapid pulse and aches and pains that are difficult to pinpoint. It has been said that vasculitis is a "hurting disease" because it is associated with pain of one type or another: pain from nerve damage, pain from insufficient blood to the gastrointestinal tract or pain from skin ulcers. In some cases, however, identifying the source and underlying cause of the pain is extremely challenging. In addition, vasculitis may involve virtually every organ and system in the body.
Conventional medical treatments may help relieve the symptoms of vasculitis but they do not address the root of the problem. Generally, by undergoing comprehensive natural medicine testing, the reasons the body is producing antibodies against itself can be found. Some of these reasons include sensitivities or allergies to foods, inhalants and chemicals and various infections.
