Low Back Pain Relief

Dear Dr. Hauser,
Attached is a letter of thanks for you to post or print if you
would like. It's my small way of trying to give back something
for the tremendous difference your treatment has made in my life.
Hope all is going well. Don't ever stop what you are doing. I am
another statistic to show that this treatment works, and needs
to become mainstream….
Dear Dr. Hauser,
It has now been a year since I received my first prolo treatment
from Caring Medical for my lower back and left side sacroiliac
region. I received a total of five treatments from June of 2000
to November of 2000. I am happy to report that my back "strength" has
been overwhelmingly improved since the treatments. I now windsurf
again (jumps and all) and even started kite surfing this year at
age forty-two (you are never too old to think young.)
It had been sixteen years since my lamenectomy at L3-L4 and about
five years ago I started spiraling down with new back episodes.
Being an athletic person I followed low back physical therapy routines
diligently, exercised daily, and kept my weight down, but the episodes
still kept getting worse. My MRI's showed no specific damage, just
typical disc degeneration at two levels. I was told that lots of
people with degenerative discs suffer no back pain at all, so why
was I having such horrible episodes? The last episode I had on
January 15, 2000 left me unable to walk for a week without holding
onto something. My only alternative seemed to be fusion surgery,
and even the doctors who mentioned it were not enthusiastic. Then
a physiatrist I was seeing handed me you book one day. I read it
three times on the airplane ride home, and then went on the Internet
to research every article I could find. I am an engineer and the
scientific articles I read on ligament/tendon regeneration from
proliferant therapy made much more sense than the outcome studies
or fusion surgeries. And long story short, here I am today enjoying
life again.
I have nothing to gain by this note other than trying (in a small
way) to help someone else as I had been helped. My advice to people
considering or entering this treatment: Go to the most experienced
prolotherapist you can find (I flew from PA to Chicago). Follow
the treatment instructions diligently since your own body does
all the work. Be very patient. For me it was steady improvement
with some ups and downs along the way (if I pushed too hard too
quickly my back would let me know it). Finally, I have found that
low back exercise/stretching is still critical for my back to be
in the best condition possible. No, I do not have the same back
when I was twenty-one, but it sure does come close. Oh, and the
pain from those needles; a minor irritant compared to the absolute
terror of looking at a step-by-step set of fusion surgery pictures.
Many, many thanks to you and your staff,
D. K.
