You need fat, plain and simple. We are all aware of the term EFA (Essential fatty acids), well, they are essential because our body needs them to function properly.

Your hair needs fats, your skin needs fats, and, from a chronic pain stand point, your joints need fats. People who have arthritis, people who need hip replacements, sometimes those people are not getting enough good fats in their diets.

Fat is like the oil can for the tin man, it lubricates your joints. So if you do not have fats, you have no lubrication. At CMRS we prescribe fat, especially flaxseed oil and cod liver oil.

Fats are also needed for hormone production, which is another whole, huge topic. Some of the people that we see in our office (had previously put themselves) on low fat\high carbohydrate diets.

What we are seeing is that a lot of women are on this diet are getting an imbalance in their hormone production and so they do not get enough progesterone or enough estrogen, now they are getting PMS, and they may progress to endometriosis and then onto surgery, it goes on and on. Women need fat! Good fat!

List of Good Fats
Polyunsaturated Fats (Vegetable, nuts, seeds)
Corn oil
Sunflower seed oil
Soybean oil
Mono-unsaturated fats (Olive oil)
Vegetable oils and nut oils (Olive, peanut, Canola)

Molo and Poly is what people want to see. Olive oil is the best of them all. When you look at oils you want to see how it is processed. Cold pressed oil is best.
