Q. Can I see a Chiropractor?
We discourage repetitive high velocity (manual cracking) types of adjustments in patients receiving Prolotherapy since this can re-stretch already lax ligaments. An occasional adjustment (for example just before a prolo treatment), can sometimes help in cases where a subluxation of the normal position of opposing bones has occurred.
Prolo will then increase the chances of stabilization of the joint in the best position. Certain acute back conditions can be safely and effectively treated by chiropractic manipulation. Chronic back pain patients should break the chiropractic habit. Some of our patients have described getting adjusted two or more times per week over a long period of time. The obvious conclusion to be drawn in these cases is that there is an underlying problem that is not being addressed by the chiropractic adjustments (the weak ligaments), and that continuation of repetitive adjustments is more than likely going to make the problem worse.
