Understanding Being A Fast Oxidizer
Patients who come to see us and are fast oxidizers need the Otter or Lion diets. We have seen patients' glucose tolerance improve once starting on the Otter or Lion Diet, proving that diet can stop the progression of diabetes in its tracks.
Ben, a busy business owner came to see us because he didnt have the energy to "feel good and work hard" everyday. He had high cholesterol, headaches, and needed a diet that would help him lose the exhausted feeling he had in the middle of each day.
Ben naturally felt better when he ate protein, so he tended to eat a lot of it. But his Hauser Diet Type results showed that he wasnt eating enough! His blood sugars were out of control, indicating that Ben was pre-diabetic. He was a fast oxidizer and his glucose curve showed a major crash after ingesting the grape drink used for Diet Typing. Had he not come in for testing, Type II Diabetes would have been in his future.
Ben was placed on the Lion Diet in order to increase the amount of protein he was currently eating so that he could control his blood sugars. He also had his food allergies tested and would need to incorporate those into the Lion Diet. He tested positive for three of the major allergies eggs, dairy and wheat. Ben was serious about making changes and went home determined to prevent a further decline in his health.
Modified Glucose Tolerance Test
Fast Oxidizers
This test demonstrates how well a person handles carbohydrates. Carbohydrates come from plant sources, including vegetables, fruits, grains, and breads. Eating foods that keep blood sugar stable will maximize energy throughout the day and prevent disease.
In this test a person is asked to fast from food for 10-12 hours before the initial blood draw. After the initial blood draw, the person drinks a serving of fruit juice, which is the simplest form of carbohydrates (sugar). The persons blood sugar is drawn again, every 30 minutes for 90 minutes, to check the response to the juice. The results are graphed out and compared to the normal range.
When the blood sugar drops too low, the person is said to be a fast oxidizer. This means the person breaks down (oxidizes) food too quickly. The recommended diet for this person needs to contain larger amounts of foods such as proteins and fats that are broken down slowly. This will help keep the persons blood sugar stable.
