Caring Medical sees Prolotherapy patients from all over the globe!

Marion Hauser, MS, RD and Ross Hauser, MD of Caring Medical

I can't tell you how frequently we receive an email that goes something like this,

"I watched your YouTube videos and read all of your material. I really think that Prolotherapy is the answer for my pain problem. You seem like you are one of the best doctors around, however, I am from New York - so I couldn't possibly come to you there. Who does the same thing that you do over here?"

Most people are surprised to find out that patients travel from all over the United States, and even other countries to come to a clinic where the doctor is extremely experienced in a technique that can totally change their lives for the better.

There are many reasons why people travel from abroad to come and see us, but here are a few of them -

1. We do Prolotherapy full time and have been doing it since 1991.

2. Dr. Hauser and Caring Medical have produced the most writing for lay people on the subject of Prolotherapy.

3. Caring Medical utilizes Hackett-Hemwall Prolotherapy. Dr. Hackett invented the technique. Dr. Hemwall was taught directly from him, and Dr. Hauser was taught directly from Dr. Hemwall and took over his practice. This method of Prolotherapy treats the entire area with many injections at one month intervals, not just one or two injections.

4. If you are afraid of needles, we offer many options to help you get through the procedure, including conscious sedation if you need it.

5. If you have failed surgery and still have pain, we can help you. We see patients every day who have had arthroscopy, back surgery, and still have pain. The underlying cause of the problem needs to be addressed - ligament weakness and joint instability.

6. Facing surgery? Try Prolotherapy first. Prolotherapy is a tremendous alternative to knee surgery, back surgery, fusion, carpal tunnel surgery, shoulder surgery, and the like. With minimal down time, you won't have to take any extra time off of work and you can still keep exercing during the treatment course.

7. At Caring Medical, Prolotherapy is done to all body parts with an over 95% success rate.

8. The owners of Caring Medical are themselves athletes, so they know what you are going through and realize the importance of you getting back to doing what you want to do. They won't just tell you to stop running, or playing golf. They incorporate exercise and nutrition into the whole package for you - so you can address your whole health and get back in shape and doing what you want to do faster and improve your overall quality of life!

9. You may say - "My insurance probably won't cover it" - well, that's probably right. However, since when do you let insurance coverage dictate what you do with your health? That doesn't make sense. Your out of pocket expenses for surgery may actually exceed the cost of Prolotherapy. Prolotherapy costs $100's not 10s of thousands!

10. I can't fly there - our answer to this is "Why not?" We are located 30 minutes between two major airports - O'Hare and Midway. There are direct flights coming and going all day long. Many patients fly in in the morning and out at night. Most people get round trip flights for $200 or so. that's worth the price to see someone with tremendous experience who is going to get them better vs trying out a variety of less experienced doctors just because they are closer.  Start now and don't waste your time.

Have you visited Caring Medical? If so, leave us a note telling us where you traveled from! We'd love to hear from you!

Dear Carole, Thanks for your post. We are so glad that you found us and that you are doing so well. Unfortunately we hear stories like yours very frequently. But you are a testimony to someone who persevered and didn't let the pain ruin your life. Hats off to you too!

I first experienced low back pain in 2004 when I got off my computer chair. As time went by my back became weaker and the pain stronger. I sought relief from a chiropractor whose manipulations caused my sacrum to become misaligned. Then I tried spine specialists at UCLA, Cedars Sinai, flew to San Francisco to a physiatrist and tried a well known back clinic in Boston. No one could diagnose my pain correctly. Soon I began noticing a click and pop sound coming from my right SI joint. The pain became so bad that I was unable to sit for more than five minutes and was unstable on my feet. I couldn’t sleep on my back because it felt like there was a small square piece of wood pressing in on my back. It was difficult to drive. When I finally got a doctor to write an Rx for physical therapy, it was the PT who diagnosed me correctly as suffering from a right anterior pelvic rotation, meaning the right front of my pelvis rotated forward. He told me that was due to very weak lumbar ligaments. I had been ill prior to my back pain and I believe the inflammation in my body weakened those ligaments. I attempted Pilates and core strengthening but I was in a great deal of pain making it difficult to perform those exercises. I researched ligament laxity online and discovered prolotherapy. The procedure, which involves multiple injections into weak ligaments, sounded archaic and painful. But I figured my pain was already so bad, how much worse could injections be? Living in Los Angeles at the time, I went to a total of four different local prolotherapists, whose techniques did not help me. At one prolotherapist’s office I noticed Dr. Hauser’s book “Prolo Your Pain Away.” So I purchased it and read it cover to cover, highlighting passages that spoke of my exact symptoms and pain, and placing sticky notes on other pages. I phoned Caring Medical and made an appointment to fly to Chicago for prolotherapy with Dr. Hauser. My three-and-a-half hour flight from LA to Chicago was excruciating. I could not sit in my seat and had to stand in the aisle most of the way. Dr. Hauser performed over 90 injections into my left and right SI joints, as compared to the other prolotherapists who did, at most, 10 to 20 injections. Immediately after my prolotherapy with Dr. Hauser, my back felt as if it had been kicked by a dozen mules. I was sore, but not in pain. Several hours later at the airport I noticed my back felt tighter and stronger, as if I was wearing a supporting girdle, but I wasn’t. I was able to remain in my seat the entire flight back to LA. Since that first visit in 2005 I have seen Dr. Hauser a total of five times, I believe. Dr. Hauser saved my life. Thanks to him, I was able to return to work and drive my car without any lower back pain. As a matter of fact, I drove across the U.S. sitting at least eight hours a day in my car and was pain-free. Dr. Hauser is THE master. I would never let anyone else perform prolotherapy on me. I have recommended Dr. Hauser to a lot of people and hope they had the good sense to fly to Chicago and get their prolotherapy done right the first time. It was worth every dollar I paid to become pain-free and to know Dr. Hauser is there in Oak Park should I need more prolotherapy. Thank you, Dr. Hauser!
