RSD or complex regional pain syndrome is a very painful condition that results in very horrible pain and disability. We published a recent article in the Journal of Prolotherapy on the topic, providing a detailed review of the syndrome and what you can to treat it, as well as how to prevent it.
People with RSD often have ligament and tendon laxity/weakness. So until those areas are strengthened, the autonomic nervous system remains on overdrive and the patient never gets better. Using Prolotherapy to regain the strength in the ligaments and tendons will allow the patient to get back their life!
Dr. Hauser discussed how the biggest threat to developing RSD is IMMOBILITY! When a clinician immobilizes the patient, (sometimes needed as in the case of a fracture), this can lead to serious painful consequences. The key is to keep moving moving moving...
If you already have RSD and cannot move, get Prolotherapy to correct the underlying ligament issue and then you'll be much better able to move - even getting in a swimming pool and moving around in the water which is easy on your joints can be very helpful.
Marion Hauser discussed the role of nutrition in healing and overall health as well as in conditions like RSD where the body is attaching itself. Finding out if you are allergic/sensitive to foods can help you know what foods to avoid, thus strengthening the body because you are avoiding things that stress your body.
