Prolotherapy, a curative treatment for golfer's and tennis elbow

Here is a recent email from our website:

Dear Caring Medical: I am suffering from golfers elbow and a little of tennis elbow would prolotherapy cure these problems or would they come back like after cortisone injections.I am a scaffolder by trade so i have a very physical job and can not seem to get rid of my pain.any advice would come in handy.

Our answer: Prolotherapy provides resolution to the problem. Cortisone masks the pain but unfortunately doesn't fix anything. Research has proven that Cortisone also contributes to further degeneration in the body, so that's not something you want going on at all.

The underlying cause of both golfer's elbow and tennis elbow is ligament and tendon damage/laxity. Prolotherapy repairs that damage. It is an injection technique that works with the body's inflammation process to strengthen ligaments and tendons for the long term. It stimulates the body to repair painful areas by inducing a mild inflammatory reaction in the weakened ligaments and tendons. The inflammation causes the blood supply to dramatically increase in the ligament and/or tendon, alerting the body that healing needs to take place.

The team at CM

As you know, we see many athletes here at Caring Medical. Why? Because we offer an alternative to the traditional R.I.C.E. type treatments - rest, ice, compression, and elevation. Instead we utilize M.E.A.T. - movement, exercise, analgesia, and treatment.

Prolotherapy stimulates the body to repair painful, injured areas. So it you are getting spring fever and want to get out there and start hitting the golf or tennis ball around, we're happy to help you regain your abililties! Give us a call at 708-848-7789 or email us at scheduling@caringmedical.com.
