Neck Pain and Headaches
Head and neck pain can completely debilitate an athlete from participating in sports. In cyclists, for instance, the riding position can be too painful to maintain for long distances. Or in cases of contact sport traumas, a persons neck can take a hit that loosens the ligaments which hold the vertebrae together, and lead to neck instability and chronic headaches. Headaches are very often self-treated with NSAID medications, until eventually those become ineffective and the person seeks traditional care where stronger drugs are prescribed, nerve blocks, or an MRI is performed and surgery is recommended. But while searching for alternative to cervical fusion, many are surprised to learn there is a non-surgical alternative for chronic neck pain and headaches using comprehensive Prolotherapy.
Prolotherapy physician and Medical Director, Ross Hauser, MD, has been utilizing Prolotherapy full time since 1993. We have treated nearly every type of athlete, ranging from high school and college scholarship athletes to Olympic athletes and Ironman competitors to the average weekend warrior. Our athletes want a physician who can get them back into their sport without surgery, without medications, and without extended time off!
As a 5-time Ironman, marathoner, long-distance cyclist, and swimmer, Dr. Hauser is just as passionate as our patients about athletics. He has also sustained numerous sports injuries himself, treated successfully with Prolotherapy. One primary reason people travel to our Chicago land clinic for Prolotherapy is because they want to be treated by a physician who truly understands their passion for sports. In our experience, a comprehensive Prolotherapy and Natural Medicine program is the preferred way to treat neck pain and headaches for optimal long term results. If you want to know if you are a candidate for Prolotherapy treatment, want a second opinion on a recommended surgery, or are just not ready to retire from the sport you love, we would love to see you for a consultation.
