Popliteus and Semimembranosus Tendonitis
There are other possible types of tendonitis at the knee, including popliteus
and semimembranosus. Each can be diagnosed by history and physical exam. It is
easy to reach a diagnosis because typically the athlete will point to the exact
site of pain or injury. The doctor will then palpate the region to find the area
of maximum tenderness. If the tender area is a tendon, then a tendon strain is
diagnosed. If it is a ligament, then a ligament sprain is diagnosed. The best
treatment for each of these conditions is Prolotherapy to the appropriate site.
Prolotherapy is so effective because the injections are given exactly where the
injured tissue is located. The exact tissue that needs to be regenerated is stimulated
to repair by Prolotherapy. Repeated bouts of tendonitis are no longer seen when
Prolotherapy is available to cure the underlying problem.
