Case Study: 13-year-old star baseball pitcher with shoulder and arm pain

Description:
Sarah was 13 years old when she started getting shoulder and right arm pain after she felt a snap in her shoulder during a game. Although many young people get aches and pains, this was especially devastating because Sarah was her baseball team’s star pitcher. Various visits to clinics resulted in a diagnosis of "Little League elbow."

A visit to Caring Medical found a definite laxity in her acromioclavicular joint and significant tenderness at the tendinous and ligamentous attachments about the shoulder. This is also where the epiphysis (growth plates) is located. Sarah received two Prolotherapy treatments, and two years later she claimed a 100 percent recovery and was proud of the fact that she now was one of her high school’s fastball pitchers, and plans to play softball in college. Sarah did not need RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation), anti-inflammatories, throwing mechanic work or decreased innings pitched – she needed Prolotherapy!
