Dr. Ross Hauser of Caring Medical in Oak Park, IL demonstrates a Prolotherapy treatment to the ribs.
Rib pain is a very common condition that I see in the office. Most folks forget that we’re always breathing, so if you get a rib injury or you get an injury to one of the muscles attached onto the ribs, often it doesn’t heal well, because you’re breathing all the time, even during sleep. These injuries to the ribs or the muscle attachment of the ribs normally don’t heal very well. This particular client is prone, or facedown, on the table. As you can see, they’re tolerating the Prolotherapy procedure very well, often we’re talking during the procedure. Specifically, we’re treating the rib angles and where the erector spinae muscles attach to the ribs. Also, I could treat the facet joints or the areas where the ribs attach to the vertebrae. This particular client didn’t have pain or symptoms that made me think that was part of the problem. This is probably her third or fourth visit. She’s responding very, very well. As you can see the procedure is done very quickly. I’m putting my fingers between the ribs which insures safety for the client. A lot of the attachments of the erector spinae muscles, including the iliocostalis thoracis and the longissimus thoracis are being treated here. As you can see, the procedure is done very quickly even though there are a lot of shots being done. Any muscle, tendon, or ligament attachment can be treated in the human body. Now this client is done.
