Prolotherapy Injections to the Knee

When we do Prolotherapy of the knee the person is lying on the exam table in the supine position. The first injection done is an intra articular (inside the joint) injection. This is done because most people with knee pain have some degeneration within the knee. Intra articular injection is very good for people who have a meniscus tear also, no matter whether it is a peripheral tear, a bucket handle tear, or a longitudinal tear, they respond well to Prolotherapy. Here we are doing the pes anserinus tendons, that includes the gracilis sartorius and semitendinosus tendons. You can see that Prolotherapy goes very, very quickly. It is very effective at not only decreasing the pain of tendon injuries, ligament injuries, but also mensicus tears, or someone who has degeneration of the joint. Now I am injecting the superior attachment of the medial collateral ligament. Ligament injuries respond very well to Prolotherapy. We can do the anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament and we can also treat ligament injuries on the posterior knee. Here I am doing Prolotherapy injections to the quadriceps tendon attachment. Now we’re on the lateral side of the knee where we are doing the lateral collateral ligament as well as the iliotibial band attachments and as you can see the treatment it self goes very, very quickly. Now I am proceeding to end with the patellar ligament and the procedure went very well.
