Prolotherapy to the Neck

Dr. Ross Hauser, MD demonstrates a typical Prolotherapy treatment to the neck, as done here at Caring Medical . Dr. Hauser treats patients from around the globe with Hackett-Hemwall Prolotherapy and has found it is an excellent alternative to neck surgery, including fusion and discectomy, in addition to offering permanent solution for chronic pain typically not seen with traditional anti-inflammatory treatment, such as NSAIDs and cortisone injections. If you would like to see our other videos on Prolotherapy injections, or would like to email Dr. Hauser to see if Prolotherapy can help your neck or headache pain, please visit www.caringmedical.com. My name is Ross Hauser, I’m a medical doctor, and I’ve been utilizing Prolotherapyin the treatment of chronic painand sports injuriessince 1993 here at Caring Medical and Rehabilitation Services. You’re about to watch a Prolotherapy procedure being done. During the procedure I’ll do the voiceover and explain the actual procedure. Prolotherapy is utilized in the treatment of tendon injuries, ligament injuries, joint degeneration, and meniscus injuries. Though I’m using the knee as a model, the actual procedure that you are watching might be another area of the body. If you have any questions concerning this video or any of the other Prolotherapy videos, please email me at drhauser@caringmedical.com

This is a Hemwall-HackettProlotherapy procedure of the neck. Here I’m treating the transverse processes. This procedure will illustrate the Hemwall-Hackett Prolotherapyprocedure for C-2 to C-7, the seventh cervical vertebrae. My fingers are starting at the C-7 vertebrae, so I’m making sure that the procedure is done just in the neck and not in the thoracic spine. Here I’m doing all the facet joints, those are about one finger breadth from the midline. This would be an appropriate procedure for someone who had conditions such as chronic neck pain, migraine headacheswhich a person felt was stemming from the neck, cervical instability, as well as any type of cervical ligament sprain. We’re done with the procedure on the neck on the left side, now we’re doing the right side. The Hackett Hemwall technique of Prolotherapyto the neck hits all the transverse processes and facet joints from C-2 to C-7. In essence, not only are we treating the ligaments that support the neck but also we’re doing the muscle attachments including the longissimus cervicis, iliocostalis, as well as the posterior scalene muscles. Anyone who has tender points in the neck, trigger points in the neck, has been diagnosed with myofascial pain syndromeof the neck, this would be an appropriate procedure. Now I’m injecting the suboccipital area, we’re treating the suboccipital muscles. This is also where the levator scapulae muscleattaches onto the occiput region. I’m doing the mastoid process here as well as the superior and inferior nuchal ridges of the occiput. I’m done with that area on the left side, now we’re doing it on the right side. If somebody has headachesthat start with neck pain, whether it’s tension headaches, or migraine headaches, Prolotherapy to the neck is a very good procedure to get and it has a very high cure rate in our office.
