What conditions do you treat with Prolotherapy injections?
The number one condition that we see at Caring Medical, in Oak Park, Illinois, is knee pain. The number one cause of knee pain that we see is knee degeneration. Knee arthritis, it’s the number one thing we see in the office and it responds great to Prolotherapy. We keep a lot of people away from knee replacements or arthroscopy because they respond so well to Prolotherapy. The most common knee conditions that we see in the office are knee arthritis. Chondromalacia patella, which is just cartilage deterioration beneath the knee cap, some people call it patellofemoral joint syndrome, or a tracking problem of the knee cap. We see a lot of meniscal tears, as well as ligament tears, ligament injuries, knee-joint subluxations, and pes anserinus tendonitis bursitis.
The number two condition or area that we see most often here at the office is low back pain. The most common cause that I see for low back pain isn’t degenerated discs, though that responds very well to Prolotherapy injections. The most common condition that we see is sacroiliac problems. We see a lot of subluxation of the sacroiliac joints, sacroiliac ligament injuries. We also see a lot of piriformis syndrome. We do see a lot of facet syndrome, spondylolisthesis, spondylosis, various arthritic conditions of the back. Typically, all of these respond very well to Prolotherapy treatment.
Probably the third most common area that we see is neck pain, chronic neck pain, or chronic headaches. The most common reason that we see for that is myelopathic pain syndrome, we see a lot of spondylosis or arthritis degeneration in the neck, a lot of subluxations, a lot of cervical instabilities. They respond amazingly to Prolotherapy. You have to realize that any type of ligament injury, tendon injury, soft tissue injury, meaning that the person has a diffused pain in the joint, the cartilage in the joint is very good. That it involves the other structures in the joint, those conditions typically respond excellently to Prolotherapy.
