Interested in learning more about Stem Cell Prolotherapy, also known as Bone Marrow Prolotherapy? Watch while Dr. Hauser explains in situ Prolotherapy and how Caring Medical performs in situ Bone Marrow Prolotherapy.
A great question that I am asked is: what is the difference between in vivo, in vitro, and in situ? The type of Prolotherapy that Caring Medical does whether it is Hackett-Hemwall Prolotherapy, Bone Marrow Prolotherapy, Stem Cell Prolotherapy, PRP Prolotherapy, is always in situ. In other words, we always do it in the natural environment.
Natural medicine is all about the philosophy of the body knows best. The body knows how to heal its self. The body knows specifically what cells are needed and what growth factors are needed. So, let’s just provide the body the tissues, the substances that it needs to heal. We don’t need to grow stuff outside the body. When you grow cells outside the body, when it is outside the body that is called in vitro. In situ is in its natural environment like the knee joint, in vitro is outside the body. In vivo means that you are using whole cells, but again, most clinics that do different types of cartilage implantation are using whole cells but they are growing them outside the body. The problem is that the longer those cells are outside the body the less healthy they are.
Again, I just believe the body knows best so, it just makes the most amount of sense to me. What would I want done on me? Would I want somebody to take some cells, do something in some lab for weeks, months, days, whatever, do a bunch of processing, then it is injected back into me? Or would I rather have a doctor take some bone marrow cells, they’re fresh, they are literally taken out of my bone marrow then they are put in here within seconds? It goes from here, then it goes into here. (Points from top of tibia to the knee joint.) To me, this way you know the cells are really, really healthy and that is called “in situ.” In situ means in its natural environment and the theory anyway is that the body knows best. The body doesn’t need just stem cells, it needs a whole bunch of cells and a whole bunch of growth factors to get repair. So, let’s put the stuff in the knee that is needed for the body to repair, the body will do the rest.
