Why hasn’t my Orthopedist heard of Prolotherapy?

Well, I can just tell you in the Chicago land area, the office in Oak Park, IL, Caring Medical, has been doing Prolotherapy since 1955. Dr. Hemwall did it from 1955 until he retired in 1996. I joined him in 1993, and have been doing it since then. Almost every orthopedist in the greater Chicago land area has heard about Prolotherapy. But, think about it… if you are in a rural town, or you are in a city where there isn’t a well known Prolotherapy doctor, why should the orthopedist hear about Prolotherapy? Having said that, platelet rich plasma, or PRP, is gaining in popularity even in the orthopedic community. Most orthopedics have heard of platelet rich plasma injections, what they don’t realize is platelet rich plasma injections are Prolotherapy. So, in a sense, most orthopedists have heard about Prolotherapy.
